Introduction
BigDevelop (“we,” “our,” or “us”) built DocScan Pro with your privacy in mind. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding data collection and use. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.
Information We Collect
DocScan Pro may access the following on your device:
- Camera access for document scanning — images are processed entirely on your device
- Scanned documents, PDFs, and OCR text are stored on-device only using local storage
- OCR text recognition is performed on-device using Google ML Kit — no document data is sent to external servers
- The free version uses Google AdMob, which may collect device identifiers (IDFA), general location (country/region), and ad interaction data
- No personal accounts, emails, or sign-ups are collected or required
All data stays on your device. We never collect, store, or transmit your personal information to any server.
Permissions
DocScan Pro may request the following permissions:
Camera
Required to scan documents using your device camera. All images are captured and processed locally on your device and are never uploaded to any server.
Photo Library
Optional. Used only when you choose to save or export scanned documents to your Photos app.
All permissions are optional and initiated only by your explicit action. We do not access any data beyond what is needed for the specific feature you are using.
Advertising
The free version of DocScan Pro displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect certain device information and usage data to serve relevant ads. This may include:
- Device identifiers (IDFA)
- General location (country/region level)
- App usage data for ad personalization
Remove Ads with Pro
Upgrade to Pro to remove all advertisements and third-party tracking entirely.
Children's Privacy
DocScan Pro is rated 4+ and is safe for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Ad personalization is handled by AdMob in compliance with COPPA requirements.
Data Security
Since all processing happens on your device, your data security is maintained by your device's built-in security features. We recommend keeping your device's operating system up to date and using a device passcode or biometric lock.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
