Install Claude Code on your Mac
Claude Code is Claude running in your Terminal. It can read files on your computer, write new ones, run commands, and (in step 02) drive your Chrome browser. That means it can do the research, the spreadsheets and the typing of a job search while you make the decisions.
- Open Terminal: press
⌘ Space, type "Terminal", press Return. - Paste the official installer and press Return:
curl -fsSL https://claude.ai/install.sh | bash - Make a folder for your job hunt and start Claude inside it:
mkdir ~/ai-job-hunt cd ~/ai-job-hunt claude - The first time, a browser window opens. Log in with your Claude Pro or Max account.
- Drag your résumé PDF into the
ai-job-huntfolder in Finder (it's in your home folder).

Connect the Chrome extension
- In Chrome, open the Chrome Web Store, search Claude, and install the official extension from Anthropic. Sign in with the same Claude account.
- In that same Chrome, log in to LinkedIn yourself. Claude works inside your logged-in session. It never needs your password.
- Back in Terminal, start Claude with browser access:
claude --chrome # or type /chrome inside a running session - Run a test:
prompt › paste into Claude Open a new Chrome tab, go to my LinkedIn profile, and tell me what a recruiter sees in the first 5 seconds. Be blunt.
You'll watch Claude open tabs, read pages, click and type. Chrome asks you to approve each website the first time. You can stop it at any moment.

Pick the right job in the AI field
"AI jobs" is not one job. Recruiters search for a specific title, so your profile has to be built around one target role (plus one backup). Start from what you can already prove.
| role | what the job is | best fit if you already… |
|---|---|---|
| AI / Applied AI Engineer | Builds products on top of LLM APIs: chatbots, RAG search, agents | fits if you… write code (Python or JS) and ship apps |
| Forward Deployed Engineer | Builds custom AI solutions directly with a customer's team | fits if you… code and enjoy talking to customers |
| ML Engineer | Trains, tunes, deploys and monitors models | fits if you… know Python, data pipelines, statistics |
| AI Solutions / Sales Engineer | Demos AI products and designs solutions for buyers | fits if you… sell, demo or support technical products |
| AI Product Manager | Decides what AI features to build and why | fits if you… run products, roadmaps, user research |
| AI Automation Specialist | Automates business workflows with AI tools and scripts | fits if you… fix messy processes in ops, finance, marketing |
| AI Trainer / Evaluator | Writes and grades data that teaches and tests models | fits if you… have deep expertise (law, medicine, code, writing) |
How to choose: the 3-circle test
- Proof today. Which role can you back up with real work, right now or within 2 weeks?
- Demand. Which role has the most open posts in your city or remote? (Step 04 measures this.)
- Staying power. Which work would you happily do for 2+ years?
Your target is where all three overlap. Career changers usually land fastest in a role that reuses their old industry: a nurse in AI evaluation for healthcare models, a salesperson as an AI solutions engineer, an ops manager in AI automation.
Read my résumé in this folder. Rank these 7 AI roles by how well I fit today. For my top 2, list what I already have, what's missing, and the fastest real way to close each gap (a project, a course, or a certification). Save it to role-fit.md.

Find out what recruiters are searching for
Recruiters search LinkedIn by job title, skills, location, years of experience, and whether you're Open to Work, then add keywords. They write those keywords by copying from the job post the hiring manager gave them. So the job posts tell you exactly what they'll type.
Collect the posts
In Chrome, go to LinkedIn Jobs and search "AI Engineer", filtered to Remote and Past month. Open the first 25 posts one at a time. For each, save the company, exact job title, years required, required skills, nice-to-have skills, and tools mentioned. Write it all to postings.csv.
Turn them into a keyword list
Analyze postings.csv. Give me: (1) the 10 most common exact job titles, (2) the 30 most frequent skills and tools, with the % of posts that mention each, (3) which of those appear on my résumé and which are missing. Save to keywords.md.
How to read the results
- In 60% or more of posts: must-haves. They go in your headline, About section and top skills.
- In 25–60%: strong signals. Put them in your experience bullets.
- Missing must-haves: your learning list. Build a small project that uses each one so you can claim it honestly.
- Use their exact title wording. If posts say "AI Engineer" and you call yourself "GenAI Developer", you won't appear in their search.
Repeat the whole step for your backup role, so the profile shows up in both searches.

Have Claude build your LinkedIn profile
Using keywords.md and my résumé, write my complete LinkedIn profile and save it to profile.md: • Headline (max 220 characters): target title + 3 top keywords + one proof point • About (max 2,600 characters): a 2-line hook, 3 wins with real numbers, my tech stack, and a call to action • Every job: 3–5 bullets starting with a verb, each with a result • Skills: my top 50 in priority order, must-haves first Use only facts from my résumé. Mark anything you're unsure of with [CHECK].
What good looks like
AI Engineer | LLM apps, RAG, Python | Built a support bot that answers 2,000 tickets/monthTitle first (that's what search matches), then keywords, then one number that proves it. The numbers must be yours and true.
Put it on LinkedIn
- Read
profile.mdline by line. Delete or fix every[CHECK]and anything not 100% true. - Let Claude do the typing:
prompt › paste into Claude Open my LinkedIn profile edit pages and paste in profile.md one section at a time. Stop before each Save so I can review it.
- Turn on Open to Work → Recruiters only. Enter your exact target titles and locations. Only recruiters see it. LinkedIn tries to hide it from recruiters at your current company, but can't guarantee that.
- Fill Featured with 3 items: a short demo video, a GitHub repo or live project, and a one-page case study.
- Set your location to the city you want to work in, and add certifications and courses from step 03.

Automate the profile picture and banner
- Take 10 phone photos: facing a window for light, camera at eye level, plain wall behind you, neck and shoulders up. Put them in a folder called
photos. - Let Claude pick and crop:
prompt › paste into Claude Look at the photos in /photos. Rank them for a LinkedIn headshot on lighting, sharpness, eye contact and framing. Crop the best one to a 400×400 square with my face filling about 60% and save it as headshot.jpg.
- Optional: run your best shot through an AI headshot tool for a cleaner background. It must still look exactly like you on a video call.
- Banner:
prompt › paste into Claude Design a 1584×396 LinkedIn banner image: dark background, my target title, and one proof point from profile.md. Save as banner.png.
07network
Get past the 500+ connection threshold
After 500, LinkedIn just shows "500+", and every new connection extends your network reach, which affects who finds you in search. Aim for the right 500: people in AI hiring.
- Import your contacts (phone and email) first. That's the easiest volume.
- Have Claude build a target list:
prompt › paste into Claude Search LinkedIn for technical recruiters and AI hiring managers at the companies in targets.txt. Save name, title, company and profile URL to leads.csv. Do not send any invitations.
- You send 15–25 invitations a day, each with a short personal note. Claude can draft the notes.
- Accept every relevant request. Leave thoughtful comments on recruiters' and AI leaders' posts daily; people connect with whoever keeps showing up.

Make recruiters come to you
- Ship one public project in your target role: a RAG chatbot on real documents, an agent that automates a real task, a model evaluation write-up. Link it everywhere. Recruiters forward proof to hiring managers; they don't forward claims.
- Post 3 times a week. What you built, a short screen recording, what broke and how you fixed it.
- Keep keywords in your headline. It shows next to your name in search, comments and invitations.
- Claim a custom URL like
linkedin.com/in/yourname-aiand put it on your résumé.
Read my project folder and my last 3 GitHub commits. Write 3 LinkedIn posts: a hook line, what I built, one lesson, one question for readers. Under 150 words each, no hashtag spam.

Become the hottest profile on the recruiter's desk
- Numbers everywhere. "Cut support tickets 40%" beats "worked on AI".
- A 60-second demo video pinned in Featured. It's the easiest thing for a recruiter to forward.
- Reply within hours, with your availability and a link to the demo.
Tailor every application
Compare this job post to profile.md. Rewrite my résumé to match its keywords using only true facts, then draft a 4-line note to the recruiter.
Practice before the call
Act as the hiring manager for this job post. Interview me on its top 10 skills one question at a time, then grade each answer and tell me how to improve it.

Common questions
Which AI job is easiest to get without a computer science degree?
AI Automation Specialist, AI Solutions / Sales Engineer and AI Trainer / Evaluator. Each one reuses skills you already have (operations, selling, or deep subject expertise) and adds AI tools on top. Career changers usually land fastest in a role that reuses their old industry.
How do I choose between AI roles?
Use the 3-circle test: which role you can prove with real work today or within 2 weeks, which role has the most open posts in your city or remote, and which work you would happily do for 2+ years. Your target is where all three overlap. Pick one target role and one backup.
What do recruiters search for when hiring for AI roles?
Recruiters search LinkedIn by job title, skills, location, years of experience and Open to Work status, then add keywords copied from the hiring manager's job post. Collect 25 real posts for your target role and use the exact titles and skills that appear in 60% or more of them.
Is it safe to let AI write my LinkedIn profile?
Yes, if you follow one rule: AI drafts, you verify. Only use facts from your résumé, have Claude flag anything uncertain with [CHECK], and delete anything that isn't 100% true. Recruiters check, and one invented title or number ends the process.
Can Claude send LinkedIn connection requests for me?
No, and you shouldn't try. LinkedIn limits weekly invitations and restricts accounts that automate mass connecting. Let Claude research targets and draft personal notes, then send 15–25 invitations a day yourself.
How long does it take to land an AI job with this playbook?
The playbook is a 30-day plan at about an hour a day: research in week 1, rebuild your profile in week 2, ship a public project in week 3 and reach out in week 4. Offers depend on your market and experience, but the profile and proof you build keep working after day 30.
